The Origin

Founded by a King, for his People.

In 1956, Sikkim was still a kingdom. Its orchards grew oranges the rest of India barely knew existed — and its mountains made them nearly impossible to sell before they spoiled. So His Highness Chogyal Tashi Namgyal founded an institution, not a company, with one job: make sure a farmer’s harvest was never at the mercy of distance again. That job hasn’t changed. Only the pantry has.

When Sikkim joined India in 1975, a lot changed. This didn’t.

The institution His Highness Chogyal Tashi Namgyal founded became a Public Sector Undertaking of the Government of Sikkim — and seventy years on, we continue that commitment.

The People

Started for the Farmer.

A single bottle of orange squash, made with one lakh rupees and one promise, was never really the product. The farmer behind it was.

Sikkim’s growers used to be exposed on both ends — a harvest that could spoil overnight, and buyers who knew a spoiling crop had no bargaining power left. So the same institution that preserved the fruit also agreed to buy it, fairly, before it ever had the chance to rot.

Seventy years later, that’s grown into a full house of Himalayan produce — squashes, pickles, jams, spices, wellness ingredients — but the method behind every jar hasn’t moved: preserve it, purchase it fairly, process it, protect it.

Achievements

70 Years,
Measured in More Than Time.

2003–2016 — Sikkim goes fully organic

The same orchards supplying Sikkim Supreme converted alongside the rest of the state, on the way to Sikkim becoming the world’s first 100% organic state.

2018 — UN Future Policy Gold Award.

Sikkim’s organic policy beat 51 nominated policies from 25 countries — the “Oscar for best policies,” awarded by the FAO, World Future Council, and IFOAM.

2020 — GI tag for Dalle Khursani

The chilli this house has worked with for decades became legally protected — meaning the premium it commands stays with the farmers who actually grow it here.

2025 — ISO 22000:2018 certified

Framed, in our own words, as a farmer-facing outcome: certification that strengthens market access for Sikkim’s local and tribal growers, not just a food-safety checkbox.
